FAQs

  • Your registration fee includes an official Dick’s-A-Thon race bib, a Dick’s-A-Thon t-shirt, vouchers for the Dick’s menu, water and electrolytes at aid stations, and a raffle ticket

  • Absolutely! You can make a donation here.

  • Yes! We would love to have you volunteer. Learn more here.

  • The Dick’s-A-Thon is not your normal run, but we think you’ll end up loving this newfangled style of running. We’ve published our an official training plan; the key is slowly and consistently building up your mileage and stopping at your favorite burger joints throughout your runs.

  • The Dick’s-A-Thon is not a race, and it won’t be timed. You’re welcome to track the run on your favorite running app though.

  • If you’re running the full Dick’s-A-Thon, you’ll eat 5 items from Dick’s over the course of 26.3 miles: a milkshake, fries, and 3 burgers (1 deluxe, 1 special, and 1 cheeseburger). If you’re running the half Dick’s-A-Thon, you can choose 3 items, and if you’re running the Victory Lap, you can choose 1 item.

  • At each Dick’s you stop at, we’ll have volunteers with water, Gatorade, and energy goos.

  • We’ll start and end the day at the Seattle Mountaineers Program Center, which is in Northeast Seattle. We recommend looking for Airbnbs Ravenna, the University District, or Greenlake. Some nearby hotels are the Graduate, Silvercloud Hotel - University District, and University Inn - A Staypineapple Hotel.

  • Rather than giving vouchers for specific menu items, you’ll receive a Dick’s gift card, and you’re welcome to use it for whichever items you want. Past participants have also brought their own veggie burgers. When you register, let us know if you’re vegetarian so we can connect you with other vegetarian participants.

  • The Dick’s-a-thon is run by a small, amazing group of volunteers, and we have a number of costs that increase the closer we get to the day of the run. We need an accurate estimate of how many participants we’ll have on October 21, and a price increase is the only way we can incentivize early sign-ups. Our goal is to maximize our donations to our partner organizations!

  • Walkers are welcome, but it may be difficult to complete the full Dick’s-a-thon course due to timing constraints. We have a Half Dick’s-a-thon option that’s feasible for walkers to complete. Dick’s opens at 10:30am, so the challenge officially starts at 10am. If someone is walking at a ~3.5mph pace and each Dick’s stop takes ~15 minutes, a walker would finish the challenge in ~9 hours. We officially end the challenge at 4pm, so a walker would need to get started around 7am, meaning it wouldn’t be possible to eat at all 5 Dick’s locations.
